Whether you’re promoting an environmental clean-up effort or raising money for an orphanage, the charities and non-profits at your event deserve recognition. Getting funding, though, takes more than just a logo on the back of a T-shirt.
If you want to make the most of your efforts, you have to be strategic. As you work with the non-profits partnering with your event, use these four tips to bolster their recognition and success.
1. Increase Awareness
An ice cream cone on its own can feel like a mere guilty pleasure. If fifty percent of the cone cash goes to a hurricane relief fund, however, that same cone can feel like a sweet act of generosity. You might even feel compelled to buy double scoop cones for the whole family.
If dollars—in merchandise, event tickets, or otherwise, are going toward a charity—make sure people know.
Place signage around your event indicting the charitable support the event is providing. Include the nonprofit initiative in your event program or on large screens around your event.
2. Make Fundraising Easy and Accessible
Too much friction will sabotage your promotion efforts. If your attendees don’t have clear ways to give, have to jump through hoops, or donations can only be made via check or cash, they’re far less likely to give.
When you have people who are eager and willing to donate, make it as easy as possible for them to do so.
Add an “optional donation” feature below the ticket selection on your ticketing page. This is a great way to generate funds and build awareness of the charity before the event kicks off.

3. Consider the Merchandise
From socks to succulents, charities will often sell products to raise money and awareness for their cause. If the non-profits and charities at your event come equipped with goods, ensure they have vendor space to sell.
4. Use Social Media to Update the Progress
Progress updates of any kind can boost motivation. If you’ve raised $10,000 for an orphanage, celebrate on Instagram. If you only need $5,000 more to reach your goal, don’t hesitate to rally your followers!
Updating your social media channels will keep everyone in the loop and unite them behind the same cause.
